Pushpa Didn’t Benefit Me as an Actor: Fahadh Faasil

Fahadh Faasil, one of Malayalam cinema’s finest actors, recently shared candid thoughts about his role in Pushpa during an old interview that has resurfaced and gone viral on social media. Despite the franchise’s massive box office success, Fahadh admitted that his experience with Pushpa didn’t bring him significant personal gains as an actor.

No Major Career Benefit

In the blockbuster Pushpa 2, Fahadh reprised his role as the antagonist Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, going head-to-head with Allu Arjun’s Pushpa Raj. While fans eagerly awaited his performance in the sequel, Fahadh confessed,
“I don’t feel Pushpa has benefited me significantly as an actor. I’ve even shared this with Sukumar sir (the director). There’s nothing to hide here. This is not about disrespect; I’m just being honest about the project and the work.”

Love for the Director

Fahadh revealed that his primary motivation for joining the project was his admiration for Sukumar. He stated,
“I took on Pushpa out of my respect and love for Sukumar sir and my desire to work with him. I don’t think people were expecting any magical transformation from my role in the film. What I had to do as an actor, I’ve already been doing here in Malayalam cinema.”

Mixed Reactions to Pushpa 2 in Kerala

While Pushpa 2 is raking in global acclaim and breaking box office records, the film has received mixed reviews in Kerala. The performances of key characters, including Fahadh’s, have faced criticism and trolling on social media. However, this hasn’t overshadowed the franchise’s commercial success or its massive fan following.

Fahadh’s honest take on his experience with Pushpa has sparked widespread discussion online, with many appreciating his humility and transparency. Despite his reservations, his performance as the cunning Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat has been praised for its intensity and depth.
