The passing of Kollam Sudhi is still hard for his loved ones to accept. Sudhi died on June 5, 2023, in a car accident in Thrissur’s Kaippamangalam Panambikkunnu. His wife, Renu, and children continue to live with his memory. Renu frequently shares memories of Sudhi on social media. She became more familiar to Malayalam viewers after Sudhi’s passing and has been active on Instagram, though she responds to criticism when it arises.
Recently, Renu’s bridal makeover and photoshoot, done with the help of a friend, went viral. She had done the makeover to help promote her friend’s business. However, when images of Renu dressed as a bride surfaced, rumors spread that she had remarried. Some even speculated that the woman photographer with Renu, who was in a T-shirt, was her new spouse. Renu has now addressed the backlash and negative comments against her bridal makeover photoshoot.
Renu explained, “Some people compare me to Jisha chechi’s mother because of the makeup, and I feel happy about that. My friend is a makeup artist, and I did the bridal makeover for her. I didn’t expect it to go viral. When I married Sudhi chettan, I didn’t get the chance to dress up as a bride because it was a registered marriage. After many years, I had the opportunity to dress up as a bride, and that made me happy. But it’s painful that Sudhi chettan is not here to see it.”
Some positive comments encouraged her to do things that make her happy. Her son Kichu even said she looked great, saying, “Super, Mom!” Renu added, “If I’m happy, then Sudhi chettan would be happy too. Those who leave negative comments think that because I’m a widow, I should be sad all the time and not find happiness.”
Since Sudhi’s passing, Renu has often been subjected to cyber-attacks. It remains to be seen how her openness will be received by the online community.
