Tamil’s celebrated director Lokesh Kanagaraj has announced a new film, adding excitement among fans of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe. Titled Benz, this film will star Raghava Lawrence in the lead role.Lokesh made the announcement through a video, which shows a “wanted” poster of Benz, a character with a red helmet, riding a Bullet motorcycle. Following this, Raghava Lawrence is shown in a hotel, cleaning fish, and later holding a machine gun. The video was released in celebration of Lawrence’s birthday.
Though part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe, Lokesh himself is only involved in creating the story, while Bhagyaraj Kannan will write the screenplay and direct the film. Lokesh is also one of the producers. So far, three films have been released within the Lokesh Cinematic Universe: Kaithi, Vikram, and Leo, with more in the works, including Kaithi 2 and Rolex, starring Suriya.Meanwhile, there are reports that South Indian actress Pooja Hegde may join Raghava Lawrence’s Kanchana 4. According to reports, Lawrence narrated the story to Pooja, who was impressed by it. This project is expected to be produced on a grand scale. Earlier, there were rumors that actress Mrunal Thakur would be cast as the female lead, but Lawrence dismissed these as baseless.
Raghava Lawrence’s Kanchana franchise has a unique fan base for its horror-comedy appeal in Tamil cinema. Although the first two installments achieved box office success, the last one didn’t perform as well. The series began in 2011 with the first Kanchana, followed by Kanchana 2 in 2015, featuring Taapsee Pannu and Nithya Menon. The 2019 release, Kanchana 3, starred Oviya and Vedhika in lead roles.
