Sai Pallavi, who became beloved among Malayalis through the movie Premam, is now facing intensified cyber attacks. She’s accused of insulting the Indian army. The attacks stem from comments she made in an interview back in 2022, which have resurfaced. The controversy centers around her statement that people in Pakistan may view Indian soldiers as terrorists, which has sparked significant backlash. Only a portion of her comments regarding the Naxalite movement is being circulated, fueling the attacks.

In the interview associated with her 2022 film Virata Parvam, Sai Pallavi’s remarks about the Indian army have resurfaced amidst the release of another patriotic film, leading to the cyber attacks. She reportedly said that just as the Indian army views people in Pakistan as terrorists, Pakistanis may hold similar views. She also expressed her belief that violence cannot resolve issues, as she stated in the same interview. Her comments about the Naxalites are being selectively used to target her.

Previously, during a similar attack, Sai Pallavi had clarified that she had no intention of criticizing any community and that she felt hurt by the selective spread of her remarks.

At the same time, a call to boycott her upcoming film Amaran has intensified as part of this campaign. Amaran, a biopic about Major Mukund Varadarajan from Tamil Nadu, is set for release soon. There are also demands to remove Sai Pallavi from her role as Sita in the upcoming Ramayana movie, a role she’s reportedly been cast in.

The ongoing controversy surrounding her statements is raising concerns as the film’s release approaches. Amaran, directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, stars Sivakarthikeyan and showcases intense action scenes. The actor underwent extensive training for his role in the film, which is slated for release on October 31 during Diwali. Produced by Kamal Haasan’s Rajkamal Films and Sony Pictures, the movie honors the real-life bravery of Major Mukund, who led an anti-terror operation in southern Kashmir in 2014. Though successful, Mukund was critically injured during the operation and succumbed to his wounds shortly after ..Amid this ongoing controversy, only time will tell if Amaran will resonate with audiences or if the “terrorist” comment backlash will impact the film’s success.
