Supriya shared that when she decided to marry Prithviraj, she saw him as a regular person, not as a film star or part of a star family. She never thought about the “star family” aspect of it. While working at NDTV, she was assigned to do a story on Malayalam cinema. At the time, apart from Mammootty and Mohanlal, she didn’t know any other actors in the industry. A colleague gave her a number, saying, “He’s a young Malayalam actor with good knowledge of cinema. Call him; it might help.”
That call changed her life. Although the interview and feature story never happened, Supriya and Prithviraj became friends. She had no idea he was a big star or part of a famous film family. Slowly, their friendship deepened, and they began dating. Despite his busy schedule, Prithviraj would visit her in Mumbai, and they would travel by auto, sit at the beach, and have tea by the roadside.
Supriya also mentioned how they would buy two copies of the same book, one for him and one for her, and after reading, they would discuss them in detail. After four years of knowing each other, they decided to marry. She emphasized that she chose to marry the man who walked beside her, not the film star.
However, she admitted that life changed drastically after moving to Kerala. She described it as feeling like a “goldfish in a glass bowl,” with everyone watching her, paying attention to her every move, and even her words becoming news or controversies.
This candid revelation from Supriya has now become a topic of discussion, given Prithviraj’s significant stature in the Malayalam film industry.
