The Hindi remake of the hit Tamil film Theri, originally directed by the Vijay-Atlee duo, is set to release soon. Varun Dhawan stars in the lead role, with the film titled Baby John. The teaser, released by the production team, reveals that Baby John will be a high-energy action thriller directed by Kalees. The film retains the original storyline but presents it with a fresh, mass-appeal style, as hinted by the teaser.
In this film, Varun Dhawan will appear as a full-fledged action hero, a role that shows him in a new light. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on December 25 as a Christmas release. “We have given Baby John a new flavor,” the team shared, adding that they’ve incorporated real events from modern society into the storyline. Director Atlee had previously mentioned that Hindi audiences will find Baby John a unique experience.
In the original Theri, Samantha and Amy Jackson played the lead female roles. In the Hindi version, Keerthy Suresh will reprise Samantha’s role, marking her Bollywood debut, while Wamiqa Gabbi will take on Amy Jackson’s character. Jackie Shroff plays the villain. Theri, released in 2016 with Vijay in the lead as a police officer named Vijaykumar, was a major box-office hit.
Produced by Jio Studios, Cine1 Studios, and A For Apple Productions, the film is backed by Atlee, Murad Khetani, and Jyoti Deshpande. Sumit Arora has penned the dialogues for the film. Alongside Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Jackie Shroff, Salman Khan will make a guest appearance in Baby John.
